Happy Chinese New Year to all of our glitter queens! This year, celebrates the year of the rooster and so in true Gypsy Shrine style, the fabulous and super talented makeup artist, Samantha Helen has embraced her inner rooster featuring of course, lots and lots of glitter! Would it really be a Gypsy Shrine look without it?!

STEP ONE: Create the bun.

STEP TWO: Apply hair gel to the scalp/head then apply glitter on top. The gel will help to keep the glitter in place.

STEP THREE: Make-up inspired by the Chinese opera house theatrical makeup. Featuring lots of red, a special colour of symbolism within Chinese culture. A colour with connotations of good luck and happiness, which we wish you all lots of this New Year!

STEP FOUR: Begin the oriental garment for the body. Reflecting the traditional Chinese attire, Sam makes this this beautiful body art look very true to life! (See images below!)

This strong eye-catching look with its distinctive red tones represents the fiery start to your year which you need, as we are given the chance to start over, reflect on the past twelve months and use that motivational fire in your belly to make this your best year yet.

STEP FIVE: Using gold paper, bring your rooster to life with this stunning 3D effect. See below for the finished look!

Ta-da! How gorgeous does Samantha look as our sparkly oriental queen?! Be sure to check out the rest of her work over on Instagram (samanthahelenmua), you won't be disappointed!

The rooster represents a symbol of honesty, fortitude alongside signifying luck, fidelity and protection. We wish you all a New Year filled with lots of love, luck and happiness. And of course, to spread a little glitter wherever you go.
